Quedgeley came out of this evening kick off with all 3 points after beating 9th placed Berkeley.

The game started evenly as both teams tried to settle down, Quedgeley looked a little unorganised in defence but Berkeley were unable to punish them. And going downhill, Quedgeley always looked dangerous getting behind the Berkeley defence time and time again.

Quedgeley took the lead midway through the first half, Scott Banner’s through ball found Pete Bull who lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper. And 10 minutes later it was doubled, a Quedgeley corner was cleared however Wanderers recycled the ball and Alex McCattys cross field pass found the run of Chris Gooch on the edge of the box, who chested the ball before lobbing the goalkeeper once again to make the half time score 0 – 2.

Wanderers were expecting a tougher 45 minutes as they played uphill in the second half. But Quedgeley were a lot more organised and Berkeley created very little in front of goal. Quedgeley got a third 10 minutes into the second half. Scott Banner won a free kick out wide and Chris Rigby whipped it in towards the goalkeeper, however the goalkeeper spilled the ball and Scott Moroney was on hand to smash the ball into the net.

This killed the game and both teams dropped down the tempo, but as the game dried out Wanderers grabbed another. Dean Hankins beat his man, and unselfishly squared for Scott Edwards, who deservedly got his goal, finishing under the goalkeeper into the net. Berkeley caved towards the end and in the final minutes Quedgeley won a penalty, Scott Moroney stepped and finished into the corner to make the final score 5- 0. A little harsh on Berkeley but Quedgeley took their chances when they came.

Overall it was a solid performance from Quedgeley, but the end of season could not be coming at a worser time as they have won 7 of their last 10 games in the league, only losing to champions Avonvale in the process.
