Gloucester Civil Service 0 - 4 Quedgeley Wanderers HT: 0 - 1

Sat Nov 20th Stroud League 4

Quedgeley comfortably beat their winless opponents 4 - 0 after a good second half display.

Quedgeley went into this game with a number of key players missing through illness, unavailability and call ups to the 1sts.
The team had to slightly reshuffle, playing a few players in more unfamiliar positions. The early stages of the first half were very sloppy and both teams struggled to play any football what so ever on one of the smallest pitches that Quedgeley will play on this season.

But on the half hour mark Matthew Dyke calmly rifled the ball into the back of the net from just inside the 18 yard box, making it 1 - 0 to Quedgeley. However Quedgeley were very lucky to go in at half time one nil up, as Civil should have scored what looked like a tap in, right in front of goal. But enough pressure from the defender and keeper was applied, thwarting the strikers chances of levelling the game.

In the second half Quedgeley started to look more dangerous going forward. Their pressure was soon rewarded through a Dean Hankins goal, which was struck in from close range, after turning and swivelling in the box, 2 - 0. This was soon followed by a well crafted goal which was eventually finished off in style by Luke Groves. Luke Groves and Shaun Banner combined down the left wing with a couple of one two passes before Luke fired a bullet of a shot straight past the helpless Civil Service keeper, 3 - 0.

Towards the end of the game the Civil Service defence were tiring badly, so when Luke Groves ran into the box at pace, he was hacked down by the Civil Service centre back. Dean Hankins stepped up and coolly slotted the ball to the keepers left, 4 - 0. Scott Banner came very close to scoring his first goal for the club hitting both the post and the bar during the second half before being substitued late on.

Overall, a work man like performance by the reds with the bonus of a clean sheet, thanks primarily to the keeper Dave Capper and a decent defensive line. Next up for the reds is a trip to mid table Wickwar Wanderers, who beat table toppers Chalford Res away from home last weekend.
