Wanderers hosted Berkeley in what was a frustrating day for the home side as they could only take a point from a match that was dominated by the wind.

Wanderers started with the wind on their side and were on the front foot for most of the first half, but were unable to create any real chances. Both teams were playing long balls and the windy conditions made it difficult for either team to play football. Chris Gooch clipped the bar from a tight angle and Jordan Rouse looked dangerous from set pieces whilst Berkeley tried to counter attack whenever possible. But both goalkeepers had little work to do with the match being played in the midfield. With the half time score 0 – 0, no team ever looked like scoring.

The second half began and Quedgeley changed their philosophy and began to pass the ball on the floor. And a goal came fives minutes in, Alex McCatty’s through ball split the Berkeley defence and Chris Gooch finished into the side netting. This settled the home side but with the wind against them, the pressure began to build as the half went on. Wanderers soon stopped passing the ball and Berkeley took control. But even so, Wanderers still looked solid and Scott Moroney had little to do. However, 15 minutes from time a scramble in the box lead to a foul and Berkeley converted the penalty. After this both teams settled down and the game finished 1 – 1, which seemed a fair result as neither team played well.

Overall it was a satisfactory performance, but Wanderers went away knowing there is a lot more to come from this team.
