Quedgeley were unlucky not to take something away from this game away at Didmarton.
With another 2 new faces coming in and 4 changes from last week, Wanderers struggled to pass and move the ball early on. Both wingers were seeing little of the ball and both defences were on top. The game seemed even with neither team creating any goalscoring opportunities until Didmarton took the lead 10 minutes before half time. Quedgeley failed once again to deal with a set piece leaving a player unmarked in the penalty box.
The second half was a little different as the home side sat back and Quedgeley began to apply some pressure. And an away goal soon came; Ethan King’s inswinging cross found Jordan Rouse’s run who headed passed the outrushing goalkeeper. But the joy was short lived as the home side took the lead 10 minutes later.
The last 30 minutes saw Wanderers finally get a hold of the game and began to threaten, Didmarton had a player sent off for dissent and Quedgeley were pushing on. Jordan Rouse shot wide and Phil Drew brought a smart save from the home goalkeeper. But Didmarton held on to claim the three points leaving Wanderers frustrated and disappointed. Hopefully this will be the wake up call the team needs to push on for next week game.
