Quedgeley struggled against a very good Abbeymead side but were unlucky not to take a point away from home.
Quedgeley started slow and Abbeymead used the slight hill to their advantage, getting the ball forward and causing Wanderers a lot of problems. And they went ahead 10 minutes in through comical fashion, a long ball was not dealt with and the abbeymead stiker closed down the goalkeepers kick which hit the striker and landed in the net.
Wanderers had a tough first half as abbeymead continued the form, but the away side had a couple of chances on the break with Scott Edwards bringing a save from the goalkeeper and Pete Bull shooting over the bar.
In the second half Wanderers had a bit more belief as they began to gain possession and create chances. But Abbeymead added a second giving Quedgeley a mountain to climb. Scott Edwards did pull one back for Wanderers finishing of Dean Hankins pass to give the side hope. And Hankins should have levelled but the goalkeeper saved a one on one late on in the game.
Overall it was a tough tie against a very good Abbeymead side, however Quedgeley can consider themselves unlucky not to gain a point and showed good courage to keep in the game even when they weren’t playing well.
