Quedgeley and Cam played out a 1 – 1 draw in what was a tight game between 2nd and 4th in Division 3.
Cam started the stronger and played some good football during the first quarter of the game, however for all of their possession they never really created anything until 20 minutes in; a foul in the box gave the away side a penalty. This was scored although Scott Moroney was unlucky not to save the shot as he got a hand to it.
After this the game evened itself out and Quedgeley found their way back in, chances were coming and Chris Gooch had a goal disallowed for offside. Ethan King hit the bar with a free kick and Gooch volleyed the rebound against the post. It seemed like Quedgeley could do everything but equalise.
Both teams cancelled each other out at the beginning of the second half. But Wanderers made changes and went for the equaliser with 30 minutes to go, and this changed the pattern. Cam couldn’t touch the Quedgeley half as the home side dominated for the rest of the game. Chances came as the Cam defence worked extremely hard but it seemed like Wanderers were going to fall short. However, in the final minutes Quedgeley won a corner which was cleared, but Alex McCatty’s ball back into the box was not dealt with and Will Park was in the right place to turn and finish under the goalkeeper to snatch a deserved point for the home side.
Overall on reflection a draw seemed a fair result as Cam dominated play early on and Quedgeley Dominated the final 30 minutes. It would have been a snatch and grab in either team had managed to take the three points.
