Quedgeley U14s Girls had an epic draw today. QWFC 3 v 3 Leckhampton HT 1-1 A brilliant match today, with the best overall performance from the girls that we’ve seen. From the first whistle, we saw the effort the girls were putting in and all the things we’d been asking for being supplied in spades. The running, communication discipline and organisation were brilliant. From a strong start, we were unlucky to go a goal behind, but the girls have shown over the past few seasons that they are resilient and they kept pushing with us getting a deserved equaliser. The action continued in the first half with chances at both ends, our GK making some great saves and Leckhampton having a goal correctly ruled out for offside. This is a product of all our defenders working together as a unit and holding a tight line. Our forward line was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after a shot hit the inside of the post and stopped on the line.
The second half started much like the first with great play and we were unfortunate to be on the receiving end of a wonder strike that saw Leckhampton take the lead again. Once again the girls continued with their attacking play and after a few chances we equalised with a great strike from one of our forwards.
Leckhampton took the lead for a third time, in part due to some tired legs across the team - no surprise as the girls had been working so hard across the pitch. Yet again we started stacking again and saw us get well deserved goal. With the bit between their teeth, the girls pushed in the final five minutes to get another goal, with numerous corners at the end but it didn’t come and he game ended all square.
I can honestly say it was the best performance I’ve seen from the girls, a brilliant marker to put down at the beginning of the season.
Thanks to Space Group for sorting the sponsorship of the kit this year. The girls looked great out there today
